1) “The Shining” 1990
The Shining premiered in cinemas on May 23, 1990. The film is based on Stephen King’s 1977 novel of the same name.
It stars Jack Nicholson as tormented writer, Jack Torrance, Shelley Duvall as his wife and child; Danny Lloyd as their son.
As winter caretaker at a secluded hotel high in the Colorado Rockies, Jack takes up residence with his family to await its closure for the season. Although both he and his wife Wendy (Duvall) initially find their jobs exciting – especially since they get to live in an enormous old Victorian mansion all alone together – she eventually becomes frustrated that her husband spends so much time away from home talking about work with one of the other employees, Delbert Grady (Scatman Crothers).
Danny, meanwhile, is subject to such intense psychic trauma that he has difficulty fitting in with the other children at school. The only person who seems to understand Danny’s experiences is Wendy; she finally learns from her son of a vision where Jack (apparently dressed as an old woman) tries to kill him and his mother on Halloween night.
2) The Exorcist (1973)

She is eventually exorcised by Father Damien Karras (James Earl Jones) and Father Merrin (Max von Sydow). It has been cited as one of the most influential horror movies ever made.
3) Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of the scariest horror movies ever made.
In 1974, Tobe Hooper directed and co-wrote what has become probably America’s most enduring slasher film to date. Its plot follows a group of friends who run into Leatherface (Gunnar Hansen) while driving through rural Texas near some old farmhouses. The movie culminates in an unforgettable climax as Leatherface goes on his murderous rampage with his chainsaw out for blood. It would inspire countless other films that followed its lead.”
4) The Conjuring (2013)
The Conjouring is an American supernatural horror movie from 2013 directed by James Wan. It is a quasi-sequel to the film of 2000, The Amityville Horror.
Based on a true story that took place in Harrisville, Rhode Island and set mainly in 1971, the plot centers around Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren are called upon to help with what would be one of their most terrifying cases ever – which leads them into uncharted territory when they encounter something beyond anything they’ve seen before.
