Tumblr’s mobile-first pitch for brand ad dollars

For the first time since the platform launched, Tumblr’s mobile traffic has exceeded it’s desktop visitors by more than 2million. Officially now a predominantly mobile platform just how will this affect it’s ads business? With Facebook and Twitter mobile ads owning market share (and driving impressive results off the back of this) where does Tumblr mobile ads fit? Steve Wax, partner at brand design agency Cooke & co, hinted says “If you do it right, Tumblr has a compelling mobile story. … But I don’t think anyone’s doing a great job yet.”


12,000 users request to be forgotten by Google search

Only days since Google launched a tool allowing those living in the EU to be “forgotten” from search results and more than 12,000 requests have been made! A simple form allows citizens to make the request where their names can be found if “inadequate, irrelevant or no longer relevant, or excessive in relation to the purposes for which they were processed” With Google looking to refine their data protection processes in the near future.


Pinterest guides real sales

Social star Pinterest continues to drive real results for brands according to a new report from Ahalogy. The research found that 52% of daily Pinterest users use the app in store before making real purchases from dress inspiration to recipe ingredients – the platform has a dedicated audience of early adopters who appear open to brand activity as long as it really adds value. Only 27% of all users are following brands right now but as the recently launched promoted pins become more commonplace this is certainly likely to change.


Google launch driverless car

Google have launched a hands free, self driving bubble car – and they have plans to get 100 on the road within the year. There’s no steering or gears but a computer will control emergency stops and sat nav but we’re more interested in the potential for data collection


Kimye picture gets the most Instagram likes

With 1.95million likes; Kimye(that’s Kim Kardashian and Kanye West to you and me) has received the most likes to an Instagram picture ever with a behind the scenes wedding pic –a record previously held by Justin Bieber with 1.82million likes.


Facebook boosts UK brands’ ability to measure in-store sales generated from ad campaigns

Already launched in the US, Facebook is bringing it’s partnership with Datalogix to the UK. Datalogix is an analytics company that measures offline sales impact from Facebook ads – as a result brands can finally gain insight into what their spend is achieving and how to make their future campaigns truly effective.


London named selfie capital of the year

With a total of 14% of all selfies taken in London, our capital city is now the capital of #selfies too. A survey of just over 6 million social posts confirmed the result with iconic landmarks like Big Ben and the London Eye driving most of these. #Shameless #IWokeUpLikeThis
