If you’re publishing content on a regular basis, you’ll want to keep track of what’s doing well, how people are finding your site and where they’re coming from. But it can be a little laborious to go through Google Analytics to find snippets of information in the different sections of the site. This is where dashboards come in – pages of custom widget layouts showing different data types in one place.
Not only can you customise these to meet your exact needs, you can then share your creations with the world. We’ve created one specifically for content publishers and bloggers. You can get it below, and add it to any of your Google Analytics accounts. It’ll then show up in Dashboards (top of the left-hand menu). Initially it will be under ‘Private’ in that left-hand menu. If you want other people who have access to that Analytics account to see the dashboard too, click the ‘Share’ drop-down in the top-left of the dashboard view and clicking ‘Share Object’.
The data we’ve included in our dashboard are as follows, and you can of course customise it further once installed:
- Total users
- Most popular days
- Top hours of the day
- Search terms used to find you
- Mobile/desktop audience split
- Most popular pages
- Top referring sites
- Users and pages per session by social network they came from
- Top countries
- Top cities
- Real-time people on the site right now
