84% of people make purchases after reading reviews on a blog according to new research from market research agency Research Now. Bloggers have become an essential tool in any marketers online toolkit but just what role do they play in the path to purchase?
Over half of those studied recognised that they had seen advertising on blogs in the form of banner ads, interestingly sponsored posts containing free outfits etc don’t appear to have been considered advertising but ‘paid content’.
36% were actually discouraged from reading a blog containing this paid content with only 27% against banner style advertising – interestingly 25% said they would make a purchase on a monthly basis as a result of a blog review or feature.
Blogs have become the go to for younger generations as a source of information and inspiration – the Zoellas of the blogging community can vouch for that – but it appears they really are driving purchase behaviour as a result. When asked what information source is valued the most when considering a purchase blogs came out on top.
